The SPETA Gen II Leadership Programme (SGLP) is officially underway!🚀

We kicked off Cohort 1 of SGLP with an energising welcome session on 31 July 2025 at Singapore Polytechnic. The session brought together second generation leaders, mentors, and industry partners. From goal setting and introductions to building new connections, the first session saw participants map out leadership goals, connect with peers and mentors, and explore strategic thinking tools. This set a strong foundation for the five month journey ahead.

The SGLP is designed specifically for second generation leaders in Precision Engineering, connecting them with industry veterans to learn, grow, and lead with confidence.
As Singapore celebrated its 60th anniversary, SPETA marked the milestone with purpose by partnering with Singapore Red Cross and Messe Düsseldorf Asia for SPETA x Heartbeat Heroes SG 2025. The community-wide blood donation campaign brought together members of the PE sector, including Royal Bussan Singapore Pte Ltd, JCS-Echigo Pte Ltd, Tritan AMS, and OPEN MIND Technologies Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, to make a meaningful impact, demonstrating solidarity, compassion, and the power of collective action.

Purposeful Innovation, Sustainable Transformation

As part of a continued effort to promote sustainable innovation in manufacturing, SPETA and a group of Gen II leaders visited HP Singapore for an exclusive learning journey.

The group saw how HP integrates AI solutions to enhance productivity, such as noise-cancellation tools for virtual meetings and digital platforms that allow businesses to visualise how designs will appear on different materials, including textile. They also observed HP’s 3D printing capabilities and learned about innovative sustainable packaging solutions aimed at reducing environmental impact.

A key highlight was the introduction to the SkillsFuture Queen Bee Programme, where HP provides mentorship and expertise to help SMEs accelerate their sustainable business transformation. This includes a “Proof-of-Concept” Mentorship Programme to guide companies in the development and validation of innovative projects.

The visit offered a unique opportunity to see firsthand how HP partners with local SMEs to drive sustainable transformation, foster innovation, and implement future-ready manufacturing practices through structured mentorship and advanced technologies.

Special thanks to the HP Singapore team (Jimmy Ong, 王锦源 and Richard SK Ng) for their warm hospitality and insightful sharing.

If you are interested to tap HP Singapore's support towards local precision engineering and manufacturing firms through the SkillsFuture Queen Bee Programme, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Together, we can forge new paths toward sustainable growth and industry innovation.
On 29 May 2025, SPETA, in collaboration with JTC Corporation and e2i, Employment & Employability Institute, hosted an exclusive industry outreach event at CleanTech Park—Singapore’s first eco-business park.

As part of the programme, participants were introduced to the Jurong Innovation District, a key hub for Advanced Manufacturing, designed to foster innovation and sustainability in the industry.

More than 25 attendees gained valuable insights into how e2i, Employment & Employability Institute and SPETA can support their transformation journey through various grant initiatives. Companies also discovered practical ways to access and apply for these schemes to drive business growth and strategic renewal.

The event featured a networking session with various stakeholders from the Precision Engineering ecosystem, providing an excellent platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration.

A highlight of the event was the guided tour of Makino's Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM CoE) which serves a dual purpose:

Demonstrator: Showcasing Makino’s comprehensive solutions for Metal Additive Manufacturing, including post-processing, automation, and digitalisation, with a focus on industrial applications and real-world production scenarios.

Research & Development Hub: Advancing the boundaries of additive manufacturing through collaborative efforts and technological innovation.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Xu Pei Jun, Jessica Chen, Kevin Tan, and the team at Makino Asia Group for their warm hospitality and insightful sharing.

We look forward to fostering more collaborations that strengthen and grow Singapore’s Precision Engineering industry.
Reimagining Space for Growth

In land-scarce Singapore, space is a precious commodity. Especially for manufacturing.

As the regional manufacturing landscape rapidly evolves, so too have the needs of our precision engineering and manufacturing companies. With the rise of advanced technologies, robotics, and now AI, the industry is transforming at an unprecedented pace.
SPETA successfully held our 43rd Annual General Meeting on 10 April 2025 at Raffles Town Club.

In 2024, SPETA focused on championing sustainability, advancing human capital development, and forging deeper partnerships with government agencies, industry stakeholders, IHLs. These efforts are central to supporting our members' growth—both locally and internationally.

"Light up your day"

The Eye Dotting Ceremony, or "点睛" (Diǎnjīng), is a defining moment in the lion dance, symbolizing the creature’s awakening. It also represents the opening of eyes to receive light for the first time—a fitting prelude to an event dedicated to photonics and light-based technologies.

Photonics drives innovation across diverse fields, from laser manufacturing and medical diagnostics to optical computing and advanced sensing. As technology evolves, its applications continue to expand, shaping the future of industries worldwide.

In advanced manufacturing, photonics plays a crucial role in enabling faster, more precise, and efficient production. By harnessing light’s properties for imaging, sensing, communication, and material processing, photonics revolutionizes quality control, inspection, and metrology, pushing the boundaries of modern manufacturing.

SPETA is proud to partner Informa Markets, alongside industry leaders like LUX Photonics Consortium and Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA), to help Singapore based companies to shine on this global stage.
🐍 A Night to Remember! 🍻
