TAC Sustainability Alliance and IHRP People Behind People Forum 2024
10 October – It was an eventful day for SPETA and the SME community.
In the morning, SPETA, joined 15 other Trade Associations and Chambers (TACs), and signed a MOU as part of the Sustainability Alliance, demonstrating a collective commitment to advancing sustainable practices within the industry. The MOU marked a significant milestone in fostering collaboration among TACs to address key sustainability challenges. This focus on sustainability aligns with the broader conversation about resilience and adaptability in SMEs, particularly as they navigate evolving market conditions and resource constraints.
This is followed by The People Behind People Forum organised by IHRP which provided key insights into the adaptability and innovative approaches within SMEs. Contributions from an inaugural SME Success Track comprising of panelists (DP Healthverse Holdings Louisa Lee, Chairman of SPETA Elise Hong, IHRP Board Member Akbar Kader and Councillor, SGTech Sharon Teo) moderated by President of ASME Ang Yuit highlighted that while SMEs face significant challenges—particularly in competing for talent and resources against MNCs—their strength lies in agility and their unique value propositions.
Key Reflections:
- The capacity to swiftly adapt to changing market conditions.
- The importance of cultivating an environment that empowers young talent to introduce innovative ideas.
- Collectively address sustainability challenges, providing vital support for Singapore companies, especially SMEs, as they embark on their sustainability journeys.
