3rd May - Sustainability Learning Journey to Micron Singapore
Wayfinding...
In October 2022, the World Economic Forum (WEF) named Micron's facility in Singapore as a Sustainability Lighthouse – the first front-end semiconductor fab in the world to have received this recognition.
The designation recognised Micron’s leading position in driving the future of sustainable manufacturing and acknowledged Micron’s proactive approach to eco-efficient operations that are good for its business and the planet. Micron’s manufacturing facilities in Singapore and Taiwan were first awarded WEF Global Lighthouse Network (GLN) status in 2020 for their elite facilities.
More than 50 SPETA members visited Micron Singapore on 3rd May to learn more about their sustainability journey and how they utilise AI tools, smart control systems and predictive maintenance to improve production efficiency and automation.
As they pursue their goal of achieving Net Zero (Scope 1&2) status by 2050, they will collaborate closely with the ecosystem, key partners and suppliers to develop the necessary sustainable solutions.
Much thanks to Henry Suseno Nilam for his sharing and support that made the visit possible.
Dr. Deepak from Energy Efficiency Technology Centre (EETC), Singapore Institute of Technology also shared how they support the development of energy efficiency capability and the adoption of new technologies in the local energy ecosystem for the industrial sectors.
SPETA will continue to facilitate similar engagements with MNC and sustainability leaders within the local manufacturing ecosystem so that we can all prepare for the future ahead!
